  1. Jair helped conquer 60 towns in the region formerly known as Bashan.

Deuteronomy 3:14 (also stated in Numbers 32:41):
    14. Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites; it was named after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair.)

    Joshua 13:30:
    29. This is what Moses had given to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, to half the family of the descendants of Manasseh, clan by clan:
    30. The territory extending from Mahanaim and including all of Bashan, the entire realm of Og king of Bashan--all the settlements of Jair in Bashan, sixty towns,
    31. half of Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei (the royal cities of Og in Bashan). This was for the descendants of Makir son of Manasseh--for half of the sons of Makir, clan by clan.

1 Kings 4:13 described those 60 towns as being well fortified by the time Solomon was king. Ben-Geber was the governor for the tribe of Manasseh.
    7. Solomon also had twelve district governors over all Israel, who supplied provisions for the king and the royal household. Each one had to provide supplies for one month in the year.
    ...
    13. Ben-Geber--in Ramoth Gilead (the settlements of Jair son of Manasseh in Gilead were his, as well as the district of Argob in Bashan and its sixty large walled cities with bronze gate bars); ...
    19. Geber son of Uri--in Gilead (the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and the country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district.

Considering "Ben-" can mean "son of", there's a good possibility that Uri was the grandfather of Ben-Geber.
After all, both governors in verses 13 and 19 had ties to Gilead.

While the above verses said Jair came from the line of Mannaseh, the below passage gave his lineage from Jacob via Perez. Considering the Joshua verses, it's understandable how he was thought to be from the line of Joseph's son, Manasseh.
    1 Chronicles 2:1-23:
    1. These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
    2. Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
    3. The sons of Judah: Er, Onan and Shelah. These three were born to him by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua. Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the LORD's sight; so the LORD put him to death.
    4. Tamar, Judah's daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.
    5. The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
    6. The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol and Darda --five in all.
    7. The son of Carmi: Achar, who brought trouble on Israel by violating the ban on taking devoted things.
    8. The son of Ethan: Azariah.
    9. The sons born to Hezron were: Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.
    10. Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, the leader of the people of Judah.
    11. Nahshon was the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz,
    12. Boaz the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse.
    13. Jesse was the father of Eliab his firstborn; the second son was Abinadab, the third Shimea,
    14. the fourth Nethanel, the fifth Raddai,
    15. the sixth Ozem and the seventh David.
    16. Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah's three sons were Abishai, Joab and Asahel.
    17. Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
    18. Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah (and by Jerioth). These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab and Ardon.
    19. When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur.
    20. Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri the father of Bezalel.
    21. Later, Hezron lay with the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead (he had married her when he was sixty years old), and she bore him Segub.
    22. Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in Gilead.
    23. (But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair, as well as Kenath with its surrounding settlements--sixty towns.) All these were descendants of Makir the father of Gilead.

Jacob (Israel) > Perez (mother: Tamar) > Hezron > Segub > Jair

The book of Judges considered this same man named Jair to be a judge of Israel. Judges 10:3-5:
    1. After the time of Abimelech a man of Issachar, Tola son of Puah, the son of Dodo, rose to save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.
    2. He led Israel twenty-three years; then he died, and was buried in Shamir.
    3. He was followed by Jair of Gilead, who led Israel twenty-two years.
    4. He had thirty sons, who rode thirty donkeys. They controlled thirty towns in Gilead, which to this day are called Havvoth Jair.
    5. When Jair died, he was buried in Kamon.

  2. In the time of David, someone named Jair had a son named Elhanan in 1 Chronicles 20:5:
    5. In another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.

  3. Esther's uncle was also named Jair. Esther 2:5:
    5. Now there was in the citadel of Susa a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin, named Mordecai son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish,
    6. who had been carried into exile from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, among those taken captive with Jehoiachin king of Judah.
    7. Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This girl, who was also known as Esther, was lovely in form and features, and Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.
    ...
    15. When the turn came for Esther (the girl Mordecai had adopted, the daughter of his uncle Abihail) to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king's eunuch who was in charge of the harem, suggested. And Esther won the favor of everyone who saw her.

    Kish > Shimei > Jair > Mordecai - verses 5-6
    Kish > Shimei > Abihail > Hadassah (aka Esther) - verse 15
